The Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) has launched a dedicated Carbon Cell to assist India’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the iron and steel sector with meeting the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requirements.
As the EU enforces stricter carbon emission norms for imports, particularly in carbon-intensive industries like steel, Indian exporters face increasing pressure to align with sustainability standards. SEPC’s Carbon Cell aims to bridge this gap by offering guidance, technical support, and policy advocacy to help MSMEs remain competitive in global markets.
The initiative will enable businesses to track carbon emissions, implement reduction strategies, and access certification support—ensuring smooth adaptation to evolving international regulations. It also seeks to enhance India’s green manufacturing capabilities while boosting exports from environmentally responsible producers.
With this move, SEPC reinforces its commitment to sustainable trade and positions Indian MSMEs to thrive in the rapidly transforming global iron and steel landscape.
